Patriotic Pinwheels~June Quilt GroupJune

Red White and Bold
Peg was the host of our June Quilt Group
We all say she is Over the Top and this month  she was really-
"Over The Top"

Our inspiration  was this quilt  made by Peg's neighbor Candice.
  "Louisiana Block"
The fabric suggestion for our project was RED WHITE and BLUE.
Each was different and they all were fabulous.
 Check them out!

One of JoAn's first blocks.
Love the scrappy.

Debbie's first block.
Great Bold Colors.

Mary Ann ready to sew.

Debbie

Jan is finishing a Red and White Two Color Quilt.

Maryann working on a project.

Hedy using Civil  War  prints.

Peg marking for string piecing.

Glenna happy to be sewing.

Peg takes a break to fix our lunch.

BBQ Chicken Salad
(recipe coming soon)
Rolls Fruit
Flag Cake
And Served up Peg Style.

This could go on Pinterest!
Wait, I think that is where she got this idea.

Great Lunch!!!!

Time to Eat.

Peg texted her  son Rob (who was working on a Musical project) to come and have lunch.  Rob and Rob (helping with the Project) had lunch and raved about our quilts and then Peg said
"What about singing us one of the songs you have been working on".
So in the middle of our sewing day we were Serenaded.
The song was - Over the Top ?

Now for ...
Show and Tell
Maryann showing the progress of her rug she started last month.
Good job Maryann!

Kathee is well on her way the this oval Rug.
Amazing Kathee!

JoAn Shows the Star Quilt she is making for her bed. We love everything JoAn does.

Peg's Jelly Roll Race Quilt made with a family group.

If Glenna's Jelly Roll quilt looks like Peg's, it is because they shared fabric to make their own Jelly Roll.

Now for the Pinwheels
Debbie's Completed blocks.
Debbie is so precise that she has numbered each block .

JoAn's Scrappy with Red Dots for background fabric.
A Great Look

Heady's Civil War Prints.
Eleven finished!

Peg is string piecing and well on her way.

Peg's blocks ready for the next step.

Jan's half square triangles

Mary Ann's full of Color.

All different and each one so Patriotic.
Love this project.
Peg thanks for a great day.
We missed some of our favorite ladies.
Hope you were having fun.

Tip of The Day!!!
Pilot  Frixion Erasable Gel Pen.
Not really for quilting but the best thing since the rotary cutter.
Mark fabric and when you press (everyone needs to press)  it disappears!
Glenna used these to mark the diagonal lines.
This is a project I  am doing with my girls.
I marked the grid with the Pilot pen and the girls glued a 5 inch square in the grid.
This is the way I get my girls to "quilt".

May Quilt Group at Jan's

Jan was our host for quilt May Quilt Group.  We came early and learned how to make rag rugs.

We used these needles.
 Some call these "Toothbrush Rugs".

Jan invited her friend Debbie to come and teach us how to make the rugs.
She has been trained (for three days) by the real Aunt Philly.

Debbie was so fun and we learned a lot from her.  Thank you Debbie.

She was so good to give us all help.  She is helping Kathee making a turn with her rug.

Maryann and Maryann have a good start.

JoAn is knitting hers.
Jan gave us instructions for knitting rugs.

Debbie and Cheryl are really studying this project.

Peg and Jeanene  getting started.

We even have Rachelle on Skype.

Our Guest Debbie starts our "Show and Tell"
She shows us the blocks her group made or her the month she hosted her group.
Great Idea!

JoAn show the fabulous quilt made for a family member.
So striking and the Rick Rack is perfect for a border.

Love the back also.

JaAn also did her own quilting.

Jeanene has completed more Farmer Wife Blocks. Each on is so precise.
Great Work Jeanene!

Cute Pinwheel quilt ready to quilt.

This quilt was just Half Square Triangles out last month and now ready to quilt.
Simple but so cheerful.

Maryann is showing a pattern used for a charity quilt.

She brought patterns for a demo.

She made her Cupcake  pattern bigger than original.

This would make a great quilt for a birthday.

Maryann's friend Maryann brought a quilt she made 20 years ago.  Hand pieced and quilted.
Don't stop quilting Maryann you have the touch.

Debbie brings a pillow to match the quilt she brought last month. Great idea to bind the pillow for  finished edge.

Vickie shows off a "Crazy Quilt" that was her husband mother's.

She wanted us to give her ideas for how to preserve it.

Most of the Crazy Quilt is made out of wool.
Look at those nice stitches.

Peg show off her "Belgium Waffle"
The colors are so great

Great quilt Peg!

All I had to show were these blocks I made for a family challenge quilt.
This is my block (Glenna)
It is also the block we will be using Next month for our
Red, White and Blue Quilts.
It is the Louisiana Block and you can find it Here

I made this block from all the Half Square Triangles I had left after make all my blocks for the cousins.
We all had a great time last night and were inspired again.
Thanks Jan!
