October Quilt Group 2014

Donna Started our Show and Tell for our October Quilt Group
Donna made these Fall flowers out of old Dress patterns.
What a clever Idea.

Donna wanted all of us to be able to make our own so she was kind enough to donate patterns to anyone that wanted them.

When some started looking at the patterns it was a blast from the past.
Some of this group actually recognized some of the patterns.

Vicki's two sisters have been visiting.
They have been checking out  a few Antique stores.
This was Vicki's find in Glendale Az
We think she found a treasure in this Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt.

Vicki's quilt might need some washing and we talked about ways to wash a quilt.

Debbie brought 5 pillow cases she made for grandchildren birthdays.
Lots of colors and patterns.  Some even match the quilts she made for them.

Vicki brought her two sisters to our group this month.
They are both "Master Quilters"
Arlene shows this quilt that has lots of points and they are all perfect.
She gave us a demo of the method  she uses.

It turned out fabulous.
She encouraged us to make our own 9-Patch Quilt

JoAn had this Dresden Quilt Quilted.
I think this was a quilt top she bought on E-Bay

It still looks Wonderfully Vintage.

I didn't have a thing to show this month.
I have finished some projects but they were gifts for Grandchildren.
I brought out the quilt my Mom made for me as a Wedding Quilt,
Almost 50 years ago WOW!
Does that make it an Antique?
This quilt was hand quilted by My Mom and her Sisters.
It is called a Whole Cloth Quilt.
The edge is hemstitched no binding.

I also brought the 1st quilt I made.
When we started this group  in about 1997, Vicki taught  us a technique each month.
The 1st was Log Cabin.
I hand Quilted this and was convinced  I would hand quilt all of my quilts.
That didn't last very long.

Mary Ann won a prize for bringing her Halloween Quilt
She made this last year and we all love it.

She didn't have the Quilt with her but took these fabulous pictures.

This will be Maryann's last time with us.

This is a quilt top for Maryann's friend.Every month Maryann shows us something she is making for someone else.  I have never met anyone that makes more quilts for other people.A very generous lady.

Donna was not going to be out-done and showed her scrappy Jean Quilt.
These two quilts are made with the method Luann taught us a few months ago.
Great way to use up old Jeans.

Donna and Maryann were our Hosts for the evening.
It was a great time together
