Quilt Retreat June 09

This quilt is also at the quilter's being quilted. I have finished quite a few projects this summer. The retreat was a great start and great motivator.

The monkey fabric wound up as a four patch quilt, Morae quilted it and the binding is on it!! WooHoo!!

We didn't have a design wall available, so we had a design bed. We are so resourceful=)

Calling this beautiful home a cabin isn't quite right, it is in the mountains but not a cabin. We ate well and I'm looking for the meatloaf recipe, the egg breakfast recipe, bean hints, and ...

1st Annual Quilt Retreat 2009-Glenna's Pictures

Seven of our quilt group were able to get away for a few days in the pines. We missed the member of our group that wee not able to come with us.

We had a wonderful time together sewing, laughing, working on puzzles, watching movies,

doing handwork and telling stories.....

Ready for the quilt retreat

I love, love, love, and adore my grandchildren, but I have so much help that I am not getting much quilting done. Can't wait for our retreat!!! I'll see you all there.

"Donna Does it Again" April Quilt Group

Donna is our Quilt Super Shopper, She found another big find. All this Timbleberries fabric. She could have kept it all but she put it in little packs and shared them with our group. We are thinking up a pattern we can all do together.

Rachelle brought a big basket of things she has been working on. This is a scrappy quilt she just whipped up.

Rachelle's show is graduating and she made this unbelievable T-Shirt Quilt for him.

And This one is for his friend. Can you believe her?

March Quilt Group 2009

Rachelle finished her "Cabbage Rose" Block of the Month quilt from last year.

She also did the fabulous quilting.

She showed us a quilt she made for a lady that came to her garage sale. She didn't know her but when they started talking about quilts they became friends. The lady had the fabric for a baby quilt for a grand baby. Rachelle pieced and quilted it for her. The lady said to leave the binding so she could say she made some of it.

Rachelle your awesome!!!

Glenna made this bag from one of Penny's patterns, "Weekender"

Made from two "Poetry Collection" charm packs.
Ruth displayed a quilt her 9 year old granddaughter made with the help of her Grandmother. Ruth said she sat by her while she sewed every stitch.

What a great Grandma.

Ruth also brought some of the samples from the machine quilting class she took. We were all blown away by her machine quilting.

Vickie showed this cute quilt top she finished. She said the fabrics were out of date and we all disagreed with her, we all loved it. We even thought it would be a great wall hanging.

Hedy said she didn't bring anything to show but she brought this bag she made.

Vickie's niece just came into town and first stop was our quilt group.

She brought two quilts to show. I can't remember what she called this but it was striking.

The "Highlight" of the evening was this amazing quilt.

I'll be missing you

I finally got the time, nerve, whatever to start the BOM from CR. I finished blocks 1, 2, and 3 but messed up on the cutting of block 4 twice (sewed the fabric back together and then cut the wrong square into quarters.) Anyway, I think the blocks are beautiful now that I can look at the finished block and not just the fabrics. The little blankets are from the pattern Crazy Eights (Jan, this might be a cute pattern to use for your red fabrics=) No, I'm not coveting=) Someone gave me a bag of scraps for the dog beds and the pieces were too big (in my opinion) to toss so I cut them into the proper sized squares and made 5 little blankets (22 X 22) for Newborns in Need. Hope to see you in April=)
